What is BitLife?
BitLife is a text-based life-simulator: you're born, age year by year, and choose actions. The catch — actions include hookups, abortions, hard drugs, murder, prostitution, prison fights, and more, presented matter-of-factly.
How does BitLife work?
Each year, the game offers menu choices: Mind & Body, Activities, Crime, Relationships. Players read short text outcomes and pick again. There's no chat or multiplayer, but the content itself is mature.
What parents need to know
- Despite the cartoonish UI, content is explicitly adult.
- Crime menus include murder, assault, grand theft, and drug dealing.
- Relationships menu includes hookups, affairs, and STI mechanics.
- Some content is paywalled behind "BitLife God Mode" but most is free.
Serious risks & safety concerns
Normalizes adult themes
Sex, hard drugs, prison violence, and prostitution are framed as casual menu choices for kids as young as elementary school.
17+ rating routinely ignored
BitLife consistently appears in tween-app rankings despite a 17+ rating. The cartoon look makes it feel kid-safe.
Parental controls available
BitLife has no parental controls. Use device-level age restrictions (iOS Screen Time, Google Family Link) to block 17+ apps.
How MyParentalControls covers BitLife
MyParentalControls flags BitLife installs and alerts you when your child opens the app, since the game itself has no chat to monitor.
Bottom line
Not recommended for anyone under 17. Block at the device level.
